- Fully electric ridepooling service to resume on July 1
- All employees return to their jobs
- Additional corona protective measures
Hanover, 28 May, 2021 – The MOIA ridepooling service will resume offering rides throughout the entire city of Hanover on July 1. "We are pleased to announce that after Hamburg, our ridepooling service will return to the streets of Hanover. In view of declining infections, we have decided to ramp up operations in Hanover step by step and with caution. It is important to us to ensure a sustainable return of the service and to once again be able to offer Hanoverians a supplement to public transport as well as a city-wide alternative to the car," says Jens-Michael May, CEO of MOIA Operations GmbH.
At the start of the service, MOIA will initially deploy up to 40 vehicles and flexibly adjust the fleet size to actual demand. As before the corona break, the vehicles will be available from 2 p.m. Monday through Saturday, and between 10 a.m. and 10 p.m. on Sundays and holidays. The pooling of passengers will be limited to a maximum of four individuals. As a closed group, up to six people can ride.
Protecting customers and employees is a top priority
MOIA has also once again extended its tried-and-tested protective and hygiene measures in order to offer both staff and passengers the greatest possible protection against infection. Wearing an FFP2 mask is compulsory for passengers in the MOIA. For additional protection of passengers and driving personnel, the driver's area is separated from the passenger compartment by a hygienic protective screen. MOIA also regularly tests its drivers for corona infections. MOIA also has its drivers regularly tested for corona infections.
MOIA launched its ridepooling service in Hanover in July 2018 and has been available throughout the city since 2019. This made Hanover the first major German city in which ridepooling can be used throughout the city. Since August 2020, MOIA has been using the golden-yellow MOIA vehicles and is fully electric on Hanover's streets. Due to the corona situation and the accompanying federal-state decisions to contain the pandemic, MOIA has paused its ridepooling service in Hanover as of December 24, 2020. In Hamburg, MOIA will start regular operations on June 1, 2021.
